Ornaments with Paper Pizazz

I was given the task of coming up with a homemade ornament craft that would come to about $1 a piece, but not LOOK like a cheap, kindergarten-style craft, you know? I was wondering in Michaels, and I found some simple plain plastic ball ornaments on sale for 50% off! WAHOO! They came to about 50 cents a piece. I had a brainstorm, then! And this is what I came up with:
To make these, you'll need a piece of patterned paper about 12" by 6", a word cut out in vinyl or some letter stickers, some twine, and a plastic ball ornament. Also any embellishments you may want to add.
The smaller the pattern on the paper, the better. Sheets like these would work wonderfully!
You will want to cut the paper into 1/4 inch strips. You'll get between 10-14 strips from the piece of paper.
Take each strip and roll it tightly into a tight spiral. You don't have to wrap it around anything, just take the end in your fingers and start rolling. The tighter the better! Then, stick the spiral into the ornament. Do this with all of the strips of paper until the ornament gets filled. Stick your vinyl word on the front, tie some twine to hang the ornament with, add a tag or other embellishment and you're done! You can make several with different colors of paper.

Want to make it more personalized? Instead of a holiday word, put your kids' names on each ornament, or the year! Whatever to make it YOURS! These took no time at all to make, and they look so elegant hanging on the tree. Best part? You can fill them with whatever you want. Think: tinsel, candy, nuts, photos, whatever! Have fun!

Oh my gosh! Your Chrsitmas ornament came out awesome and in no way does it look as though it is cheap. I love it and I think that I have some of the glass balls down in my basement. If I do I will try your project. Thank you very much for sharing. :)
