Back on Track

Still ten pounds down. No more, no less. It's been 3 1/2 months and I'm still only down 10 lbs. I take full responsibility, though chocolate should claim it's share, too. I admit I have very little self control when it comes to chocolate. But enough is enough. I'm getting back on track and I'm not going to quit until I've reached my goal!

I have to tell you how impressed I was with myself today, though. I got on the treadmill and did about a 4 minute warm up walk. Then I sped up to a jog and continued jogging for 10 minutes!! Yes!! I jogged for 10 straight minutes! I walked for another 15, then did some pilates. But did you hear??? I jogged for ten minutes without stopping! Okay, it's not earth shattering... but it's amazing for ME. The most I've been able to jog at a time has been 4 minutes, and I'm tellin' ya, that was pushing it! I think I was trying to run too fast then, though. I slowed it down to 4 miles/hour (a mild jog for me) and was able to keep it up! Oh, I'm elated about that. It was so fun to feel some gross sweat run down my back, and picture myself in a fitness commercial - running full speed, all "glisteny" LOL! It felt wonderful. I'll try again in a couple of days and see if I can do a repeat performance. Ha ha!

Thanks to Conference, I've also been trying to get back on track spiritually. I haven't committed murder or anything, but I have been slacking in the prayer and scripture reading department. I've fallen behind the Sunday School schedule, and I will be the first to admit that my prayers were nothing special. I can imagine my Father in Heaven nearly dosing through my prayers. *sigh*. Time to improve. I've been reading an excellent book called "Following Christ" by Stephen E. Robinson (the follow up to his book "Believing Christ") and it's hepled me understand MY role - AFTER my conversion, what is required of me and WHY. SO awesome. I love it. It's helped me to recommit to being an ACTIVE follower of Christ and to know what is in my power to control, and what to leave in the Savior's hands. Such a load off my shoulders. And such good news! If you haven't read it (or his first book) make it a goal to read them. They are not hard to read, and teach so much.

Oh! Good news, the hunkster hubby got accepting into the Executive MBA program here! He'll be starting in the fall, and the program is 18 months. We will both be SO excited when he can complete his Masters degree. It's something that has been a goal of ours for a long time, and now the end is in sight. We just have to wade through 2 years of him working full-time, going to school, and fulfilling his demanding calling. But we can do it!

You know I HAVE to add a photo, so here is a shot (not great) of the parliament building here in the city. Is there a reason for this shot? Nope. Have a good one!

Congrats on getting back on track & losing AND keeping 10 lbs off, you know that's a dress size?

Glad to hear that Lyndon was accepted in the MBA Program, I'm sure it will be crazy busy, but, in the end it will all be worth it!

Awesome! Way to keep on jogging.
Chocolate.....I swear was invented by the evil one. I KNOW it will be my demise.
Congrats to Lyndon! I know you will be his biggest fan and supporter. The end results will be worth ALL the sweat and tears.

You are so wrong Bobbi, 10 minutes of running without stopping is life shattering. Anyone who has ever run can tell you that! Way to go girl!

It sounds like you're getting back on track with everything you could be.

School is a long haul, I should know since "we" just finished my husbands MBA, but you both (and the kids) will do great over the next couple of years.

10 minutes!!! WOW! That's awesome! I remember when I ran 10 minutes straight for the first time. That's funny that you should mention picturing yourself in a commercial because when I get to the point when I feel like I want to slow down, I imagine myself in one of those commercials...lol. Too funny. Yeah for Lyndon getting into school. It will pay off big time!

keeping 10 pounds off for 3 1/2 months is a great accomplishment even if you didn't lose any additional weight. Now that you're motivated again you'll get there.

Congrats on the 10!!....getting it off is one thing....keeping it off is quite another. And B is correct, finally getting to pull out 10 full minutes of running is huge.

Wanna go for a run when we come to visit next week?
