Happy Easter 2008!

What an eventful few days! I love this time of year - things are warming up, the sky is blue, and it's time to celebrate the Resurrection of our Savior! New birth is everywhere!! Love it. The girls had Friday off school, Lyndon had Friday off work and I....well, I suppose it was a day like most :) First thing I drove over to Michaels to spend my $50 gift card. I opted to purchase a nice frame for my "The Family: A Proclamation to the World". I'm SO excited with how my little project turned out. It only took about 20 minutes I also bought a couple of things for around the house, which I can't wait to show you! When I got home, I was so happy to see that my husband had managed to clean most of the house! DOUBLE YAY!
After lunch he took the oldest girls out for a bit of fun at the mall and the local indoor greenhouse. He also took them to play at a huge indoor park. Why? So I could have some time to myself while my baby slept. NICE! I suggested he take my camera with him so I could see all the fun they had. He rocked the camera as always :)
When I saw this photo I literally laughed out loud! See, I had recently read THIS post at Amy W
s blog. Read it, and you'll see why the laughter :D
I especially loved this photo. Yes, the girls' hair is untidy, and Bayboo looks like she is not amused, (who would be after seeing that scary bunny??) but it's my girls and I LOVE all the color those balloons bring to the photo. 100% Easter here! Looks like they had a blast with their daddy. My husband loves plants - he loves to grow them, nuture them, resurrect them after I've had them a while ;) So, it didn't surprise me when I heard that he had taken them to the indoor gardens. He took a number of beautiful photos of the flowers, but I especially love these ones of the girls. That leaf, by the way, they found on the ground in the parking lot. We don't make it a habit of teaching our kids to rip leaves off of tropical plants.

We had some friends from the ward come over on Friday night to play some fun board games. One of them was a german style game which was so interesting. It was an LDS version of a german game, actually, called "The Settlers of Zarahemla". SO much fun. I really got into it. You really have to think when you play. Not sure how well it worked out for me :P Later we played a version of "Nerts" (if you are a member of my family, you know what I'm talking about) called "Dutch Blitz" which doesn't use face cards as Nerts does, but otherwise it's the same. Very fast paced game, and I actually WON! HUGE surprise for me. I never, ever, ever win that game - just not fast enough. And considering we were playing it near midnight - I'm doubly surprised I won. Maybe the other players being half asleep had something to do with my edge ;)

It's a tradition in our family to have the visit from the Easter Bunny on Saturday (no sugar on Sunday) and the Easter bunny loves to send our kids on a hunt for their baskets. Since it was after midnight when our friends left, I was just too tired to hide clues all over the house. That's when my husband was inspired to have a hunt all over the city! Okay - how do we hide clues all over the city when it's after midnight and I'm past being tired? Another inspired idea...the easter bunny with email the clues to my husband's blackberry as we reach each destination! YES! Easy. The kids woke us up at 7am, though I know they were up giggling much, much earlier. Vents are so lovely :) We had a delicious breakfast, got the girls ready and were off! The Easter bunny sent us to the indoor garden, the Royal Saskatchewan museum, the University, the Temple, and finally to the Stake center where their baskets were hidden in a locked room (that my husband had keys for - magically!) The Easter Bunny left a chocolate egg, a small chocolate bunny, some fruit snacks, fruit roll-ups, granola bars, and pudding. The best part of all was the DVD each child was given - perfect for our upcoming tradition of Movie Nights! I've decided that if the girls do their chores each week, then the last Saturday of each month, we will celebrate with a movie night.

Church was fantastic! Like I said, I refused to let the girls have sugar on Sunday (mostly because of their behavior on Saturday after having downed most of their treats! Craziness!). I was relieved because they were all very reverent during Sacrament meeting. I had the fun privilege to teach Bryn's class in Primary. Boy, I could definitely tell the kids were on a sugar high! LOL! SOOOOOOOO noisy. I felt so bad for the leaders, though I have been there before :) My class was generally well-behaved, very smart, and sweet. I am definitely glad, though, that I can attend Sunday School and Relief Society right now. I feel for those women who are without that privilege for years because of their faithful service in Primary and Young Womens. I am so grateful for the women who teach my girls. They truly love them dearly.
Happy Happy Easter everyone! I hope you had a wonderful time with friends and family! I'll be posting again on Tuesday with a new tutorial - something simple you can use again and again. Oh, and a fun RAK I received from my friend Michelle. I'll also try to post photos of my latest projects ;)

Oh, my goodness I almost DIED laughing over that Easter Bunny picture. LOL! Woohoo, on the movie night, I'm hoping lots of people will do this, so I don't have to come up with the ideas anymore. :D

That is too funny. I had to go and read Amy's blog and it was so worth it.

Love the idea of having the girls hunt for their baskets all over the town. Darn that dad is one smart man! It looks like they had the time of their lives.

Happy Easter Bobbi- late. Very cute pictures your husband did a great job. And I too went and read up on Easter Bunny scare. Very funny. I've always been a little scared of a big bunny too! I actually worked at a store once that had the Easter Bunny coming and I took my kids becuase it was my friend in the bunny suit and it was the funniest thing I've ever seen. Kids throughout the store were in tears and wanted nothing to do with it. My friend and I just laughed so hard about the stores stupid idea of fun!

Hey- we used to play Nerts all the time at university. I could never remember the name of it though. So fun!
