Just one more

Yes, I'm back again. Aren't you sick of me? Then why are you here? LOL! Okay, I was completely inspired once again by the Goodie Box girls and their challenges. This mini album incorporated all 4 of their challenges so far, which were 1. Use a dangling element 2. Mix and match fonts 3. Make a mini album using a coordinating product line, and 4. Use ink, paint, or glitter. Done, done, done! The title on this was done using 3 different types of lettering, which added to the mix and match feel of the whole album. What is the album about? Turning 8! Becoming 8 years old is a big deal around here. It means a lot of things like being more responsible for your actions, being baptized, and a lot more. I wanted a special mini album for TJ which encompassed all of those special things about this age.

The coordinating product line I used was the "Wild Saffron" line from K&Co. Since we don't have a real scrapbooking store here, I depend on what I can find at Michaels for the most part. Thankfully they carry a bunch of K&Co products that all coordinate nicely. I've had these products for a while, but was itching to use them in a fun way!

I didn't have a cute chipboard album like the Goodie Girls showed, so instead I used my silhouette machine and some various pieces of cardstock and patterned paper from the line to cut out large scalloped circles as the pages. All the photos I used were 4X6 (easy peasy) and then I went to town with the fun stickers and embellishments i had from the same line. The entire album took about an hour and that included the time it took to cut out the pages on my silhouette, and print the photos on my printer! Nice! Using coordinating products takes so much of the guess work out of scrapbooking, and let me focus on the important things, like telling the story!
For the journaling, I simply printed it in Word and printed it on some white cardstock. I journaled as if talking TO my daughter because the album is for her, and I find it easier to write if I'm writing to someone. Oh, the butterflies were also cut on the silhouette and I added some Martha Stewart glitter on them to add some punch.

This was one of my favorite pages. I used almost completely white or off white embellishments to play off the theme of purity etc.


And that's that! If you are lucky enough to live near a scrapbook store, just check out their chipboard albums, find a product line you like, and start imagining! Somehow mini albums just make me so happy! Maybe it's because when they are done I can display them for all to see. Who knows.
