Songs of Summer!

It might not make sense to most, but ABBA songs make me think of summer. Why?

As a child we would vacation each year in BC, which was an 8 hour drive from our house. We would all cram into our silver Chrysler with red interior, get out the snacks, and pop in our Abba Voulez-vous 8-track to listen to (it was either that or Ronnie Milsap the whole way - which wasn't always a bad thing - YOU ROCK, RONNIE!).

I would kneel facing the back window (no seat belt laws back then), lean my head on the back dash and make up my own stories that went along with each ABBA song as I watched the prairies slowly turn into Mountains as we traveled. I especially loved this song:

It made such an impact on me that I even sang this as a lullaby for each of my girls. Cheesy? Maybe. But it has meaning for me. It takes me back to my childhood summers, and carefree days!

Abba will forever make me think of summer!!!

What's your summer song?

Holy Smoke!!

okay, if you don't know this family the title won't make much sense :) But I had the opportunity to photograph a lovely girl and her husband on their wedding day this past Saturday! It was the hottest day of the year so far, not a cloud in the sky, bright sun, and lots of wind (a photographer's dream - ha!) but, I think we managed okay. I mean - really? This girl is so striking she more than makes up for harsh lighting conditions :) Oh, and finding a spot of shade helps, too.

Their colors were lime green and yellow - I just loved it! These two are so in love it wasn't hard at all to convince them to smooch it up!!
Like I said....GORGEOUS!!
Okay, and he's pretty cute, too! ;)
These were the gals - so fun. There were sisters, sisters in law, and best friends all jumbled into a pile of beauty!

... and then there were the guys. LOL!
Yes, the sun was hot and high, but it also made the sky nice and blue.

Did I mention the cute girls? I did? Well, here they are again.... :)
Yep. They were happy, happy, happy! Maybe it was just because this was the last shot of the afternoon! LOL!

This represents the last wedding I'll be photographing for a while. At least until my kiddos are a little older, and I'm no longer Relief Society president. Balance in all things! I'm glad they were willing to let me photograph them (honestly, I still pinch myself that people PAY me to photograph them - wa??) and I'm happy that they were the ones I could 'retire' on - at least for a while :)

Oh, I'm curious. . . Which is your favorite shot of the bunch?

Frayed flowers

I'm in love with these little babies!! FIRST I was inspired by Joanne's GORGEOUS Posy pins (which are SUPER DUPER cute, but I can't seem to duplicate - ahem, tutorial please??) then I hopped over to Tip Junkie to see THIS great tutorial from Maize in Montana on these UBER simple frayed flowers - I'm talking, like 10 minutes to make.

Now I've got one of these babies pinned to my cute yellow purse (courtesy of Miss Simply B) and have received much complimentos! (and I've passed a few interested readers on to your blog, girl!)

... and I even stuck one in my hair! (but only for the picture - seriously, I can't possibly make myself cuter for the public!).
Oh, and I found it quite loverly to pin one to my hat to show off my shabby chic side ;)
Yep - I'm lovin' these. Now I need to go off to buy some headbands to attach a couple to, (or barrettes) and who knows what other uses I'll find for them??
